RAI International Festival of Ethnographic Film

The Royal Anthropological Institute’s International Festival of Ethnographic Film is held biennially, in collaboration with different UK universities and in association with various local community and cultural organisations. Drawing in international film-makers, broadcasters, academics, students and a non-specialist audience, it is one of the leading global gatherings in the UK that celebrates critical documentary-making and discusses the relationships between film, visual culture, and the promotion of cultural diversity and inter-cultural dialogue. The event showcases outstanding work from recent film-makers and explores new trends in documentary genres and visual anthropology. The 2009 festival was held at Leeds Metropolitan University.
